Welcome to Bravestone Centre
Announcing Bravestone Centre
The pursuit of positive change always begins with one thing – a step forward.
Our services are firmly grounded in the trauma therapy model. Survivors of abuse are best helped from an understanding of how abuse and neglect, especially in childhood, affect the way people think, feel, behave, and relate to others. Equally important are the links between trauma and social inequalities, such as sexism, racism, and poverty in women’s lives. At Bravestone Centre, our professional counsellors ensure that safety, both physical and emotional, are in place as they walk with the women and their children in their healing journey.
In addition to the individual and group therapy sessions for women and for children respectively, focus is also on strengthening the healthy attachment of moms and their children and providing greater opportunities to enhance parenting skills. We truly believe that helping children and youth early prevents the cycle of abuse from further impacting their lives, both in the present as children and lays the foundation for a healthy and thriving adulthood.
For women trying to escape from an abusive relationship, Bravestone Centre can help. Being brave doesn’t necessarily mean you’re not scared. Being brave means you are scared, but you are taking the first steps anyways.
We can help women and their children create a foundation in which to begin a new life, free from abuse.

Land Honouring
Bravestone Centre would like to respectfully acknowledge that the lands on which we gather are the traditional and ancestral lands of Treaty 1, that have been and are inhabited by Anishinaabeg, Cree, Dene, Dakota, Ojibway, Ojibway-Cree and Metis peoples.
We honour all the generations of people who have taken care of this land and recognize and deeply appreciate their historic connection to this place.
Through colonization and the residential school system which forced many away from their families and traditions, First Nation members were traumatized through abuse and other forms of mistreatment. The pain and trauma has resulted in the impact of violence, domestic and sexual abuse.
Bravestone Centre is committed to working with our respective work organizations, and with each other in an open, honest, and truthful conversation and to work toward justice, equity, and reconciliation.
