WISH Inc Attains Highest Standard of National Accreditation
15 Jul 2013
WISH Inc. (Women in Second Stage Housing) announces that it has been accredited under Imagine Canada’s exclusive national Standards Program.
The Standards Program is a Canada-wide set of shared standards for charities and non-profits designed to demonstrate their compliance in five fundamental areas: board governance; financial accountability and transparency; fundraising; staff management; and volunteer involvement. It helps organizations mitigate risk by ensuring that staff and volunteers understand and meet their legal, financial and fiduciary responsibilities.
“This accreditation is so important to our organization, to our donors and funders, and to the families we serve. It provides the confidence that WISH Inc. is committed to encouraging feedback, continuously improving services, and serving the community” says Executive Director, Lori Rudniski.
“Being one of the first 45 organizations across Canada to achieve this level of national accreditation is exciting for our board and agency. Consistent with the Standard Program’s goals, we are able to demonstrate our organization’s transparency and capacity and strengthen the public’s confidence in our policies, procedures and practices. You can be confident that your support of WISH Inc. is in compliance with national standards” says Board Chair, Katherine Hallick.
In Manitoba, there is only one other charitable organization that holds this honour. To view the listing of accredited organizations, click here.
